Limestone Post won 11 awards in the Indiana Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists “Best in Indiana” Journalism Contest. The award ceremony was held in Carmel, Indiana, in April, with more than 240 journalists attending from across the state. LP contributors Steve Hinnefeld, Haley Miller, Christina Avery, Christine Brackenhoff, Steven Higgs, Michael G. Glab, Rebecca Hill, Jill Bond, Krista Detor, and Debora Shaw were among the winners.

The WFHB News staff and Limestone Post also took home second place for coverage of the housing crisis in their collaborative series Deep Dive: WFHB & Limestone Post Investigate. Overall, the Deep Dive series won six awards. Last year, the series was also named a finalist for Journalism Collaboration of the Year in the 2023 Nonprofit News Awards, a nationwide distinction.

Bloomington was well represented at the SPJs this year. In addition to WFHB and LP, others earning multiple awards were WFIU Public Radio, WTIU Public Television, Herald-Times, Ryder Magazine, Bloom, photojournalist Jeremy Hogan, and the Indiana Daily Student.

These winners are a mix of experienced news reporters and talented writers experienced in long-form, enterprise journalism. This diversity gives LP its “voice” and allows us to include more marginalized voices throughout the community. And collaborations with WFHB, the Arnolt Center for Investigative Journalism, and other local and regional news outlets helps us to expand our coverage and fulfill our mission to keep our readers informed.

Without our readers, we could not publish such trusted, high-quality journalism. THANK YOU!
