Nonprofit News Program Doubles Your Donation to Limestone Post!

— Limestone Post Promotion —

by Ron Eid, publisher, Limestone Post

I’m excited to announce that Limestone Post Magazine is participating in the year-end NewsMatch campaign! This is our first year as part of NewsMatch, a program like no other — and you can be a part of it!

NewsMatch is an industry-wide movement to sustain nonprofit journalism through matching gifts. Since 2016, NewsMatch has raised more than $150 million for nonprofit news organizations like ours. Just think of the impact! Limestone Post is the only publication in Bloomington and Monroe County to participate in this campaign that supports local, independent, nonprofit journalism.

Here’s how NewsMatch works:

From now through December 31st, NewsMatch will match your monthly donation 12 times — or double your one-time gift — all up to $1,000. What that means is, through NewsMatch, Limestone Post can earn up to $10,000.

Your support will help us continue to produce the kind of public-service journalism you won’t find anywhere else. If you value the critical work we do, will you give today?

For the past six years — and especially since we became a nonprofit in 2019 — our mission at Limestone Post has been to produce public-service journalism that you can trust. We do this through stories like Steve Hinnefeld’s insightful report on the state of Bloomington’s daily local news, “Changes in Daily Local News Landscape Have Consequences,” and Rebecca Hill’s ongoing health series, including an in-depth look at “What Happens When an Opioid Epidemic Collides with the COVID Pandemic?

This local reporting is essential to keeping our readers informed on issues like housing, education, the environment, social justice, and other issues that impact our lives. Plus, Limestone Post is a member of the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN), a network of more than 360 independent, nonprofit news organizations dedicated to public service and ensuring that all people in every community have access to trusted news. You can learn more about INN at inn.org.

Our journalism informs and strengthens Bloomington and south-central Indiana, making this a better place to live. This is essential work — especially these days — and it would not be possible without the support of readers like you.

Here are just a few comments by readers on recent stories we’ve published:

“This was a fantastic, thoughtful, balanced and well-researched article.”

“Wow. GREAT story.”

“This is such a great big-picture, historical perspective story of what’s happening with our local news scene.”

We believe in the power of journalism to combat disinformation, spark positive change, and strengthen our community. Our longtime readers know that Limestone Post’s in-depth reporting serves a critical need in our community. Or, as one reader put it, “Limestone Post fills a gap in the local media landscape.”

With your support, we can publish even more in-depth, nonpartisan, factual journalism.

The funding we raise during NewsMatch will set us up for 2022 — sustaining the kind of journalism that you’ve come to expect from us and making possible some new ventures. Our largest expense is contributor fees, and your donation will help pay Bloomington freelance writers, photographers, illustrators, and other creative talent for the time and effort they put into researching and writing these in-depth stories.

As an independent, nonpartisan magazine, we’re unafraid and unapologetic in telling the stories about communities, issues, and solutions that might otherwise go untold. And when people have access to this information, they are emboldened to hold power to account, advance solutions, and work with one another to make a change.

And as a nonprofit, we depend on the support of readers like you to keep this critical work going. Your gift will go a long way and can make a real difference in our community.

During this giving season, a lot of worthy, and essential, organizations are vying for your attention. Our work supports many of their causes by reporting on the issues they address. So we hope that, as a Limestone Post reader, you’ll demonstrate the value we add to your life and our community by making a donation today.

Will you help power the news that works for you and our community?
