Deam Wilderness

Cope Hollow, January 2016, Digital image | This barren hardwood tree is in Cope Hollow, the Deam’s southernmost section, which is separated from the rest of the wilderness by Tower Ridge Road. The Forest Service planted fast-growing pine trees in the background to stop erosion from a landscape devastated by almost a century of over-logging.
