This photo was taken by Limestone Post contributor Richard Koenig, the Genevieve U. Gilmore Professor of Art at Kalamazoo College in Michigan. Growing up in Bloomington, Richard often photographed trains throughout the area. Some of those photos became the focus of his essay “Tracks Through Time: The Trains of 1970s Bloomington,” which is one of our most-viewed stories of all time. This southbound train is shown on its route between Morgantown and Bloomington, near Mt. Gilead Road and State Road 45 on March 25, 1977.
